NSF Mid-Career Advancement Program

In a funding newsletter, we learned of a program at the National Science Foundation called the Mid-Career Advancement (MCA) program. This program “Supports opportunities for scientists and engineers at the associate professor rank (or equivalent) to substantively enhance and advance their research program through synergistic partnerships.” (Social scientists are scientists in this context.) The program seeks to support researchers who “are often constrained by service, teaching, or other activities that limit the time devoted to research.”  The announcement notes that the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE) directorate is among those that are funding these awards.  The next proposal window for this program is from February 1 to March 1, 2023, so there’s time to start working on a proposal for this program. If you are interested in pursuing this, it would be useful to discuss your plans with Associate Dean Tom BIrkland, tabirkla@ncsu.edu
