Did Charles Dickens’s 19th century writing style influence modern television? Big slay 😌

Developments in literacy and print helped serial publications of novels over many weeks or months to gain traction and become hugely popular in that era.

@ncstate assistant professor of English Anna Gibson is the co-director of the Digital Dickens Notes Project which offers readers insight into the 19th century author’s creative mind and writing practices and new ways of interpreting texts written in a series.

There’s never been a better time to #RunWithThePack 😌🐺

Across all industries, employers are naming critical and creative thinking as the top skillset that they are looking for in recent college graduates – it is also the skillset they report younger applicants are missing most.

The new Advanced Critical and Creative Thinking certificate through the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is offered to students of all majors at no additional cost.

Through the 12-credit-hour program, you’ll not only gain skills you can transfer to any field or industry. You’ll also fulfill @ncstate general education requirements through a cohesive theme of your choice. Learn more at the link in our bio 📚
A #GivingPack love story. Nearly 40 years ago, John and Alicia Nunnally met in Dr. John Gilbert’s political science class. While Alicia had aspirations of a law degree as a political science major, John studied engineering. John ultimately switched his major to political science, and they both went on to successful careers in law.

Today, they are creating a new endowment in memory of the late professor, Dr. Gilbert, whose class brought them together. And the legacy continues: their son, Alex, is following in their footsteps as a graduating senior in political science. He also happens to be a member of the recently crowned ACC champion NC State men’s basketball team 🐺 Goodluck tonight, Alex!
