A recent study finds that families with separated parents provide less financial and emotional support to their adult children.

Associate professor of sociology at NC State and corresponding author of the study Anna Manzoni stated, “In practical terms, this often places children in these families at a disadvantage because they have access to fewer resources.”

Let's talk global security!

Gentry Smith, Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security (DSS), spoke to NC State political science students about career opportunities within the Diplomatic Security Service.

Smith is a graduate of the political science program at NC State and has worked for DSS for the last 30 years. He is the first Black special agent to fill his role. Though he retired in 2017, he returned to be the assistant secretary after being appointed by President Biden.

We caught up with Smith to learn more about his job responsibilities, his first year in the position, his NC State visit and more. Follow the link in our bio to read about our conversation with Gentry Smith!
