Scholarships
The college offers various merit and need-based scholarships, enabling students to study abroad, conduct research and in many cases, pay their tuition and meet their financial needs.
How to Apply
Undergraduate Scholarships
- Complete a general application in Pack ASSIST, and the university will match you with awards for which you qualify.
- Review application deadlines and apply early to receive first consideration. Newly admitted students should apply when they’re admitted.
Study Abroad Scholarships
- Complete a single application with the Study Abroad Office. This is a different application than Pack ASSIST.
- Review application deadlines for spring, summer and fall study abroad cycles.
Graduate Student Support
- NC State offers a limited number of fellowships, grants and other awards for graduate students.
- Students should check with their home department about program-specific awards.
Scholarship Opportunities
Freshman Awards
The college awards a limited number of scholarships to first-year students.
- Scholarship applications are available once a student has received an official offer of admission.
- Students should apply through Pack ASSIST, the scholarship portal managed by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
- The Dean’s Office will notify selected applicants.
Merit Scholarships
The college offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships for undergraduates who have completed at least 12 letter-graded credit hours at NC State.
- Merit applicants must be full-time students and have an NC State GPA of at least 3.5. Leadership, extracurricular involvement, volunteer activities and letters of recommendation are also considered. Additional criteria may apply for specific scholarships.
- Students should apply through Pack ASSIST, the scholarship portal managed by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
- Eligible applicants must complete both the General Scholarship Application and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Scholarship Application.

NC State offers several university-level awards such as the Park Scholarship and Caldwell Fellowship.
The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid assists students and parents in applying for and securing financial assistance when family resources are insufficient to meet educational expenses.
