  2. Explore opportunities outside the classroom. In our college, you’ll have a chance to study abroad, land competitive internships and pursue personal interests through student organizations.
  3. Challenge yourself. Our admissions office encourages you to take honors, AP, IB, and dual enrollment courses to boost your academic record and potentially earn course credits at NC State.

Transfer Students

Prepare to Apply

Transfer students comprise about 25% of NC State graduates each year. As you consider your transition to NC State, our admissions office recommends the following steps:

  1. Identify your academic interests. View our undergraduate degrees and what you can do with a diploma from our college.
  2. Boost your academic record. All transfer applicants should have at least 30 transferable college credit hours completed, including specific coursework and a competitive GPA based on the major you are applying for.
  3. See which courses may transfer. Search the university’s transfer course credit database to help you select courses that will transfer or to get an idea of how many credits you will bring with you to NC State.
  4. Plan your coursework. See how your credits will apply toward our degrees by viewing degree requirements.
