Request for Applications (RFA): Promoting Health Equity and Clinical Research in Southeastern NC

The Research Advisory Council is accepting applications for the Promoting Health Equity and Clinical Research in Southeastern NC Awards (PDF). These awards have two tracks—Health Equity and Clinical Research—that will result in pilot awards of up to $50,000 for collaborative projects promoting research to understand and improve relevant community health challenges in southeastern North Carolina through a lens of access, value, and equity. Examples of the types of projects appropriate for this RFA include, but are not limited to:

  • Projects that address health disparities in one or more historically marginalized populations
  • Projects that test interventions to address social determinants of health
  • Methods and strategies for increasing the inclusion of underrepresented populations in research
  • Pilot efforts that will lead to developing, testing, and disseminating multilevel interventions to achieve health and healthcare equity
  • Pilot efforts to improve screening rates and preventive care in vulnerable populations
  • Develop and test community-level interventions to reduce health disparities and improve outcomes
  • Observational research to understand the role of structural racism and/or discrimination in causing and sustaining health disparities
