Bio
Dr. Tracy Appling joined the SPIA faculty in July of 2008. She serves as SPIA’s External Relations and Internship Director, as well as a Teaching Assistant Professor. Serving as the Internship Director, Dr. Appling places students in positions in federal, state, local, and non-profit agencies. She is an instructor for the Leadership in the Public Sector on-line undergraduate degree completion program. She is Quality Matters (QM) E-Learning Course Certified and serves as a QM peer reviewer for NC State and colleges across the country. In 2017, Dr. Appling served as the Interim Development Director for the Institute for Emerging Issues founded by James B. Hunt. Prior to this, Dr. Appling served as the NC State’s Development Coordinator for the Division of Undergraduate Academic Programs and the Student Development Coordinator for NC State’s Cooperative Education Program. Before entering into the higher education field, Dr. Appling worked at the March of Dimes and the Wake Education Partnership in various development roles.
