Mary Michaels Estrada, Ph.D., is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at North Carolina State University. She prepares graduate students and practicing educators to support language learners through applied linguistics, culturally responsive pedagogy, and the mindful integration of technology.
Dr. Estrada’s teaching and scholarship focus on language teacher education and global professional development. She has collaborated on international professional development programs for educators in China, Argentina, and Spain, as well as teacher training across Latin America and Europe, and brings those experiences into her teaching. Her work centers on reflective practice, collaboration, and relationship-centered teaching. She believes good teaching changes what people see is possible for themselves — and that that is the point. She has received multiple teaching innovation grants and was recognized with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Professional Faculty Teaching Award.
