Bio
Dr. Daniel A. DeJoy is the head of the Communication Disorders Concentration and teaches courses in communication sciences and disorders. He recently was named Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences for 1998-2000. Dr. DeJoy works individually with persons who have various types of communication problems and with those who desire to maximize their communication potential.
Area(s) of Expertise
His research interests include the development of fluency and fluency disorders, the nature of clinical interaction, the influence of the client-clinician relationship on therapy outcome, and the graduate school admissions process. Currently he is studying rate of speech as an indicator of formulation processes and the relationship between speakers' response tempos (impulsive versus reflective) and their hesitation behavior in spontaneous speech.
