Bio
Zlatin Mitkov is an Assistant Teaching Professor at North Carolina State University’s School of Public and International Affairs, a Faculty Affiliate part of the Triangle Institute for Security Studies, and a Research Fellow at the University of Central Florida’s School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in Security Studies and International Relations from the School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs at the University of Central Florida and an MA in political science with a focus on comparative politics from the Central European University. His core research interests include Political Psychology, Intrastate war, Interstate war, Public Opinion, and Computational Text Analysis in a comparative perspective. Currently he is focusing on survey and interview based field work investigating the socialization and forgiveness among former Maoist combatants in Nepal, and on a panel, dataset aimed at mapping the personality traits of the world’s major political leaders in a comparative perspective. His work has appeared in Foreign Policy Analysis, PLOS-One and has been funded by UCF’s College of Sciences, NCSU’s School of Public and International Affairs, and ASMEA. His work is regularly presented at the annual APSA, ISA, and ISPP conferences.
