Bio

Dr. Scheel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and a faculty member of the NASP and APA accredited School Psychology Graduate Program at North Carolina State University. He earned his Ph.D. in School Psychology at the University of South Florida and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Santa Barbara Psychology Internship Consortium in Santa Barbara, CA. Dr. Scheel has published research articles in the areas of multi-tiered systems of support, school climate and safety practices and legislation, bullying prevention, and student social-emotional well-being. He has taught courses in systems change, child therapy, psychopathology, applied behavior analysis, and psychoeducation assessment. He is also an Associate Editor Fellow for the International Journal of School and Educational Psychology. Dr. Scheel is the director of the Enhancing Evidence-Based Interventions for School Safety research lab.

Dr. Scheel’s research centers on evaluating crisis prevention and intervention initiatives through ecological, intersectional, and equity-focused frameworks. He also investigates institutional reform and systemic change, specifically examining the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support to enhance social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health outcomes in youth.
