Emma Stanley
Bio
Emma is a doctoral candidate (ABD) in the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program. Her research focuses on mobile and locative media (apps and items that use GPS/GIS), and she’s interested in how our interactions with these media impact our experiences with the physical spaces around us in terms of communication and mobility patterns. Her additional interests include electronic literature, video games, composition pedagogy, and philosophy. Emma is passionate about teaching at the post-secondary level, and is currently in her seventh year of teaching, while also being the faculty sponsor for the Acts of Kindness Club at NC State. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and now lives in Raleigh with Gatsby, her Miniature Poodle, and Maisel, her Goldendoodle. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing tabletop board games, and hiking.
