Impact Scholars

Join the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' premier scholarship and leadership program.

Start Making a Difference

To lead is human. You’ve already shown the potential to make a difference. Now join a community that can help you turn curiosity, compassion and ambition into meaningful impact from your first year at NC State.

Impact Scholars is the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ premier scholarship and leadership program, combining financial support, mentorship and hands-on experiences that help you apply human-centered learning to real-world challenges.

Why Become an Impact Scholar?

Impact Scholars is more than a scholarship. It’s a guided experience built to help you grow as a student, a leader and a changemaker.

As an Impact Scholar, you will:

  • Join a small, close-knit cohort of motivated peers.
  • Receive personalized mentorship and advising.
  • Gain funding for internships, research, study abroad and experiential learning.
  • Work alongside faculty on projects addressing real societal challenges.
  • Build a network of mentors including professors, alumni and fellow scholars.

Scholarship Funding

Impact Scholars receive both financial support and funded opportunities designed to open doors.

Scholars can receive up to $12,000 during their time at NC State, including a:

  • $2,000 renewable annual scholarship (up to four years)
  • $4,000 experiential learning stipend to support internships, research, study abroad or other hands-on experiences

This support helps remove financial barriers so you can focus on exploring opportunities that shape your future.

“This program helped me in so many ways, like setting me up with a research mentor and teaching me how to build a resumé. I feel so prepared for the professional world.”
