Seeking Global Strategic Partners: Travels to Uganda

NC State seeks out strategic partners around the globe. That quest took Dean Jeff Braden to Uganda recently, where he led a university delegation to explore the potential for partnerships between Makarere University, the Kingdom of Buganda, The Aids Support Organization (TASO), and the Maamma Watali Project. His goal was to assess the resources, capabilities and needs there in order to advise NC State's Office of International Affairs on whether or how to proceed in developing these international partnerships.

October Student of the Month

Kim Thanh Vu, a senior majoring in Social Work and minoring in Biology, envisions a career as an occupational therapist. She founded Crafts for a Cause, bringing together students who share a passion for crafting and philanthropy. She was a 2013-14 Resident Mentor, interned at the Alexander Family YMCA, and traveled to Guatemala for Spring 2014 Alternative Spring Break.

$8.1M Gift Endows Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies

A gift to establish the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies will firmly establish NC State as the premier research and outreach center on the Lebanese Diaspora. The gift is the largest single gift in the history of the college and the first privately endowed center at NC State.

Blair Kelley Named Assistant Dean

Dr. Blair L.M. Kelley has been named assistant dean for interdisciplinary studies and international programs at NC State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The CHASS Interdisciplinary Studies Program awards an array of cross-disciplinary undergraduate degrees. IDS major programs include Africana Studies, Arts Studies (including Film Studies), International Studies, Science Technology and Society (STS), Self-Design Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies
