English Major Earns Fulbright Summer Institute Scholarship

English major Jessica Hatcher is spending her summer in Scotland. But she's not your typical tourist. Hatcher has received a Fulbright Summer Institute scholarship to study at the University of Dundee and the University of Strathclyde. The Fulbright is considered one of the most prestigious and selective summer scholarship programs operating world-wide.

Three of the four seniors receiving the Mathews Medal this year are CHASS students. The Mathews Medal is the highest non-academic distinction awarded to NC State students, and is reserved for those who have made significant contributions based on leadership and service.

For Ashley Honeycutt (Political Science, '12), a degree in political science was always a part of the trajectory of law school. But her experiences in CHASS and with the Susan Carter Scholarship inspired some changes in course. Honeycutt currently works with the International Justice Mission in La Paz, Bolivia.
