Holiday Food Drive Raises 650 Pounds for Feed the Pack Food Pantry
Faculty and staff from across NC State’s campus provided a much-needed boost to an on-campus food pantry this holiday season.
Donors gave nearly 650 pounds of food for the 2015 College of Humanities and Social Sciences food drive benefiting Feed the Pack: The Food Pantry at NC State. The college has organized the holiday food drive since 2012, offering a friendly challenge to other groups across campus to raise the most canned goods and other non-perishable items.
In addition to Humanities and Social Sciences, NC State’s Poole College of Management, College of Engineering, College of Natural Resources, College of Sciences and the Division of Academic and Student Affairs all participated in the drive this year.
Dean Jeff Braden and other Humanities and Social Sciences faculty and staff offered Christmas carols as they picked up donations around campus this week. It’s become a tradition for the college to sing the slightly re-written songs each year. Take this version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” for instance:
Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
So we can all have good cheer.
Your food we will take
To the pantry to make
Good tidings for Christmas
And a happy new year.
Located on main campus in Broughton Hall, Feed the Pack aims to combat food insecurities experienced by members of the Wolfpack family. It’s sustained by donations from the community. To learn more, check out the “Feed the Pack Pantry” Facebook page or email feedthepackpantry@ncsu.edu.
