Research led by an NC State doctoral student in psychology indicates that people who build robots form an emotional bond to their creations – though the bond is different from the sort of attachments people form with other people or pets.

Jaquelinne Murillo is a senior International Studies major. She has studied abroad in Argentina and interned at the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh. CHASS sponsors a number of dual degree programs that allow students to combine scientific or professional study with a focus in the humanities or social sciences. One such dual degree option, the Jefferson Scholars program, enables students to earn a degree in CHASS and a second in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. This year, the program added an international experiential learning trip for Jefferson Scholars.

Department of State Awards Scholarship for Critical Language Study

Timothy Bryant (International Studies, ‘13) is spending his summer studying Punjabi in India, thanks to a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS). Bryant focused his international studies on South Asia and the Middle East and earned a minor in Hindi-Urdu. The CLS program is part of the federal government's effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages.
