CHASS Faculty Invited to Apply for Course Development Grant

College of Humanities and Social Sciences faculty members are invited to submit proposals for designing or redesigning courses that meet the Foundations of American Democracy (FAD) student learning outcomes and General Education Program (GEP) requirements. The up to three faculty selected for the FAD CHASS Course Development Grant will receive $8,000 each and support in creating large-scale online courses that offer students an innovative and engaging experience.
CHASS partnered with Digital Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA) to sponsor the grant program. Eligible faculty members must have a three-quarter time appointment at the college and develop or redesign an online for-credit course that accommodates at least 200 students that will be offered at NC State during the 2026–2029 academic years. Submit proposals starting April 1.
Proposals that feature measurable learning objectives, align with the NC State Strategic Plan and CHASS strategic priorities, and are taught by faculty experienced in online teaching or utilizing online tools will receive priority consideration. Applicants must be available to meet and collaborate regularly with DELTA staff from August 2025 through July 2026 for content development sessions and other activities. The redesigned course must be delivered in fall 2026, and faculty must complete the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric workshop by September 30, 2025.
Proposals undergo a review process that requires departmental approval. Successful applicants will work with DELTA staff to create multimedia learning materials and assessments. The submission window closes on May 9, 2025, and awards will be announced in June 2025.
