Sharon Herring Named Assistant Dean for Financial Administration

NC State’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences has named Sharon Herring assistant dean for financial administration, effective June 24.

After joining NC State in 2008, Herring has held multiple accounting roles and currently serves as business officer for the College of Engineering. Her past experience also includes financial posts with Livingston College, Montreat College’s Institute for Professional Development, and Florence-Darlington Technical College, among others.

“Sharon brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our community, and I’m very excited to have her join our leadership team,” says Deanna Dannels, dean of the college. “Sharon’s insight and problem-solving, mentorship and fiscal management skills will help us maximize opportunities and address challenges as we continue elevating our college’s work on campus and around the world.” 

In the College of Engineering, Herring has served in her current role since 2013. Prior to that, she worked as a bookkeeper in the College of Sciences and as an accountant for Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Herring earned her Master of Business Administration from North Greenville University in South Carolina and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Winston-Salem State University.
