Humanities and Social Sciences donors resoundingly answered the call on Wednesday, contributing 627 gifts to college, department and unit funds on NC State Day of Giving. That’s the highest gift total for the college in the four-year history of the 24-hour fundraising event.

Donations totaled $339,298 — crucial funds that will aid students in need, boost experiential education opportunities, and support research and engagement activities.

“These generous contributions will directly benefit our people and programs for years to come,” says Deanna Dannels, dean of the college. “They’ll help remove financial burdens so more learners can study abroad, afford internships and attend conferences. They’ll support faculty and graduate student research. And they’ll help us innovate and invest in new initiatives to move the college forward.

“It’s hard to express how grateful we are to everyone who contributed and shared their #GivingPack story. We sincerely appreciate your investment in the humanities and social sciences at NC State.”

On Day of Giving, donors celebrate what makes NC State great and help colleges and units compete for bonus funds through leaderboards and challenges. In all, 2022 donors raised an impressive total of $23 million for the university.

Throughout the day, Humanities and Social Sciences got a big boost from several donors whose major contributions will have a huge impact. Their gifts will help fund need-based scholarships, faculty recruitment and scholarship, and multiple graduate programs.

The college’s Dean’s Board also offered incredible support, boasting a donor participation rate of 100% and recruiting others from all corners of campus. Other highlights include the college winning the noon ”Most Student Gifts” challenge, in which donations from students earned us an additional $1,000. These and other contributions provide a boost to unrestricted dollars, which allow the dean to say yes to more student opportunities.

We offer our sincerest gratitude to every member of our talented and charitable community. Thank you for #GivingPack!
