My NC State Story: Seth Palmer (Political Science ‘08)

When I graduated from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2008, the job market was anything but hospitable. Through relationships that I built at NC State and the trust that those individuals placed in me, I had the chance to join the staff of the majority leader of the North Carolina House of Representatives. While on his staff, I worked on a seminal piece of legislation for the state: the 2009 bill banning smoking in bars and restaurants. Though I have had many other accomplishments in my professional career since then, this has set me on the path that I continue on today.

Without the knowledge and experience I gained as a political science student in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Seth Palmer is director of regulatory affairs and external communications at NC REALTORS.
