Holiday Food Drive Raises 1,186 Pounds for Feed the Pack

donations to food drive

Staff and administrators from across campus helped stock the shelves in a big way at NC State’s on-campus food pantry.

This year’s donations to the Humanities and Social Sciences holiday food drive totaled nearly 1,186 pounds. That’s a record total for the annual food drive, which benefits Feed the Pack: A Food Pantry at NC State.

Humanities and Social Sciences staff and administrators have organized the holiday food drive since 2012, offering a friendly challenge to other administrative office groups across campus to raise the most canned goods and other non-perishable items. This year’s participants were NC State’s Poole College of Management, College of Engineering, College of Natural Resources, College of Design, College of Sciences, College of Education, Provost’s Office, the Graduate School and the Division of Academic and Student Affairs.

As is tradition, Humanities and Social Sciences administrators and staff sang slightly re-written carols as they collected donations from offices around campus. Take this version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” for instance:

Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
Now help us to feed the Wolfpack
So we can all have good cheer.

Your food we will take
To the pantry to make
Good tidings for Christmas
And a happy new year.

Located on main campus in Broughton Hall, Feed the Pack aims to combat food insecurities experienced by members of the Wolfpack family. It’s sustained by donations from the community. To learn more, check out the “Feed the Pack Pantry” Facebook page or email feedthepackpantry@ncsu.edu.
