Trading Places: Seventh annual Dean for a Day contest open for students

Dean for a Day
Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Jeff Braden will trade places with one student on Jan. 26, 2016. The college is looking for students who are interested in swapping schedules with their dean. The deadline to apply is Nov. 24.

Humanities and Social Sciences students: What’s it like to be you?

Your dean, Jeff Braden, wants to find out.

The dean will trade places with one student on Jan. 26, 2016, and there’s no reason it can’t be you. Write to us about why you’re the best student to swap schedules with the dean, and he’ll go to your classes, visit your club meetings and hang out in your favorite study space. Whatever’s on your agenda, he’s there.

Meanwhile, you’ll get to be dean for a day. That prestigious title, which would look pretty good on a resume, brings with it an opportunity to network with other NC State leaders, meet with donors and promote the college’s world-leading faculty, extensive partnerships and experiential learners.

Don’t miss out on your chance to trade places with the dean. Here are the only requirements:

  • You must be an undergraduate Humanities and Social Sciences major.
  • You must be available Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 (ideally from 5 p.m. on Jan. 25 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 26).
  • You should have at least two classes on your schedule Jan. 26.

To apply, tell us in 300 words or less why the dean should walk in your shoes and why you should be dean for a day. Send your brief essay, along with your name, class year, major and phone number, in an email to dara_leeder@ncsu.edu.

The deadline to apply for the Dean for a Day contest is Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.
