NC Tech Association CEO Earns National Praise
When Brooks Raiford (Political Science) was president of the NC State student senate and then student body president, he earned the respect of his fellow students. For the last six years as a member of the CHASS advisory board — and as chair for the last two years — he earned the respect of his fellow board members and leaders across the NC State community.
As the CEO of the North Carolina Technology Association — the statewide membership association for the tech sector — Raiford recently earned accolades from colleagues and peers across the country.
Raiford and leaders from other companies and advocacy organizations from the nation’s technology industry convene in Washington, DC, for an annual “DC Fly In” designed to focus policymakers’ attention on issues of importance to the innovation community. Each year during the Fly-In, a national “TechVoice Champion” award is presented to a U.S. senator, a representative, and a CEO of a company or advocacy organization in recognition of their advocacy for the tech sector.
Raiford was awarded the 2014 TechVoice Champion award, marking the first time that a CEO of a state advocacy organization has been selected in the category. Here’s the video praising Raiford that was shown at the awards banquet.
