A graduate student studying to become a museum curator combined his love for art and history to make a statement on the NC State campus. Carl Wilkins put up his first exhibit in the school's Hunt Library, but now he wants to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the pieces.

MALS Student Curates Pop-up Exhibit on Letters from African-American Leaders

Master of Arts in Liberal Studies candidate Carl Wilkins brought key moments in African-American history to life during a pop-up exhibit he recently presented on campus. His curated show, “In the Writing: Personal Letters of African-American Leaders from the Mark E. Mitchell Collection," featured letters from the renowned Mark E. Mitchell Collection of African American History, including correspondence from Malcolm X to Alex Haley, Frederick Douglass to Senator Blanche Kelso Bruce and George Washington Carver to Henry Ford.

Grad Students Display Innovative Work at Research Symposium

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was well represented Wednesday at the 2016 Graduate Student Research Symposium. A total of 43 Humanities and Social Sciences students from 14 different graduate programs presented their work at the annual symposium, which showcases research from across campus through poster presentations that are judged by faculty.
