Researchers Study How to Improve Mental Health Conditions at County Jail

Through a partnership with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, NC State researchers are studying how to improve mental health conditions at the county jail. The project, which supports Wake County’s participation in the White House’s Data-Driven Justice Initiative, aims to help the jail operate more efficiently, but also improve the care and outcomes of those with mental health problems.

Psychology Professor Serves on White House Team

Psychology professor Lori Foster was tapped to serve on the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team, a multi-disciplinary group of experts that is helping federal agencies streamline access to their programs and improve how they communicate with constituents. President Obama has signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use behavioral science insights to better serve the American people.

Citizens can share and document their experiences with North Carolina’s House Bill 2 through a new digital archive created by a North Carolina State University historian. The website, NC HB2: A Citizens’ History, allows users to submit stories, videos, images and documents related to the bill and sort through materials submitted by others.
