Research aims to reduce HIV/STD risk factors among teenage girls

Research led by NC State psychology professor Laura Widman aims to reduce young people’s risk of HIV and other STDs through a new web-based intervention program she developed for teen girls. Starting this fall, she and other researchers will see how effective the program, Project HEART, is with up to 300 teenagers in North Carolina.

An Intensive, Interdisciplinary Study of Ebola, Maymester-Style

Maymester offers students intensive learning opportunities, including an interdisciplinary exploration of the 2014 Ebola outbreak. Maymester, a spring program that compresses a semester's study into three weeks, was successfully piloted by Humanities and Social Sciences over the last several years and is now being adopted by colleges across NC State University.

Brace Yourself: Study Finds People Can Use Different Strategies to Prepare for Stress

People are not consistent in how they prepare mentally to deal with arguments and other stressors, according to a pilot study led by Associate Professor of Psychology Shevaun Neupert. In fact, people used different coping behaviors to prepare for different stressors, and those coping behaviors changed from day to day.
