Nonprofit, International Studies Lead Grad to Address Global Women’s Health

CHASS alumna Tracy DiTucci (International Studies with a minor in Nonprofit Studies, '11) travels the world working with the nonprofit women's health organization, Ipas. Her studies provided her “with a framework for better understanding the unique role that nonprofits play in society and the different challenges and opportunities they face."

NEH Internships Reinforce the Value of the Humanities

Bryan A. Hum (Poli Sci '13) and Micah Khater (Senior, History) spent the summer of 2013 as interns for the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. They learned about the importance of the humanities in society and worked on an array of projects for the organization.

Face-to-Face: Skull Study Shows Variation of Pre-Columbian Cultures in Mexico

NC State forensic anthropologists have discovered that there were clear differences between indigenous peoples long before Europeans or Africans arrived in what is now Mexico. Their analysis of prehistoric peoples reveals significant regional variation. Contrary to long-held beliefs, all native peoples did not look alike.

WWII Prisoner of War’s Ring Returned After 70 Years, Thanks to History Thesis

Norwood McDowell (MA History '05) never imagined that his thesis would play a pivotal part in bringing home a family heirloom ring that his grandfather-in-law traded for food in 1945 in order to survive a World War II P.O.W. camp.

Recent Grad Advocates for Justice Abroad

For Ashley Honeycutt (Political Science, '12), a degree in political science was always a part of the trajectory of law school. But her experiences in CHASS and with the Susan Carter Scholarship inspired some changes in course. Honeycutt currently works with the International Justice Mission in La Paz, Bolivia.
