Social Innovation Fellows Honored For Sustainability

The Social Innovation Fellows, a multidisciplinary program hosted by NC State’s Institute for Nonprofits, has won a 2020 NC State Sustainability Award. 

The awards, which are given out each spring by the NC State Sustainability Council, recognize outstanding achievement in sustainability on campus, in the community or globally. The Social Innovation Fellows program was honored in the department category.

“As a fellow myself, I have gained a completely new perspective in applications of sustainability,” said Haley Hall, a senior minoring in political science.

The team-based learning experience partners students with nonprofits and businesses that aim to solve social challenges in communities. Some of this year’s collaborators included the Haiti Goat Project, 700 Rivers and Reborn Clothing Co., a startup created by political science alumna Emily Neville.

 “The Social Innovation Fellows program has given me confidence in myself and humanity to rise against some of the world’s most difficult problems,” said Hall.
