Dr. Emily Smith has her Ph.D. in Lifespan Developmental Psychology with an emphasis in statistical analysis. She has been with the Center for over three years. Her personal research includes promoting resilience in response to daily stressors throughout the lifespan.  Specifically, examining prevalent stressors experienced by youth, young and older adults, identifying maladaptive environments, and investigating subsequent behavioral and developmental outcomes. Importantly, focusing on promoting healthy patterns of behavior and relationships, identifying coping techniques, and building avenues of community and social support to mitigate negative outcomes.

She currently serves as the Project Manager for the annual Community Child Protection Team review. Additional work includes investigating the needs of active, transitioning, and veteran military personnel to promote health and wellness among military populations. This work is led by Dr. Samantha Cacace through the Center for Family and Community Engagement. Additionally, she is part of the evaluation team on the Family Leadership Model project at the Center.
