She joined the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in June 2010 bringing with her 18 years of service to the State of North Carolina, with the majority of those at NC State University. Her areas of expertise at NC State include fiscal and human resource administration. Betty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at NC Wesleyan College and a Masters of Business Administration at East Carolina University. Betty is married to Ken Esbenshade, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Betty enjoys traveling, reading, attending theatre performances, gardening with her husband, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite color is purple. She loves food and is a pescetarian (basically a vegetarian that also eats seafood). She has a special fondness for dark chocolate!
