A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, April 12, 2015, at SAS Hall on the NC State campus.

Celebrating the Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies

NC State recently celebrated an exceptionally generous $8.1 million gift to endow the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Representing the largest single gift in the history of the college, the Khayrallahs are creating the first privately endowed center at NC State, and the world’s first center on Lebanese culture and history outside of Lebanon. A gift to establish the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies will firmly establish NC State as the premier research and outreach center on the Lebanese Diaspora. The gift is the largest single gift in the history of the college and the first privately endowed center at NC State.

An Antique Find Prompts Academic Research

Research can deepen students' passion for a subject, challenging them to search for answers to complex questions. It permits students to be creators of knowledge, and not simply recipients of past ideas. History major Mike Helms's curiosity about an antique handgun has led to research into a previously under-explored topic.

In Ancient Artifacts, A Newfound Passion

First generation student Jordan Karlis (History and Anthropology) traveled to Jordan to participate in an archaeological dig in 2012. She was hooked on the research and returned to Amman to present her findings at an international conference. Students in an advanced digital video class made this video to explain Jordan's research and to share her transformation from shy student to engaged scholar.
