“Being human means being kind, being generous,” says junior psychology major Sabeel Zayan. “Everyone has their own experiences…everyone grew up differently, thinks differently, culturally — everything.”
Those differences, she believes, are exactly what unite us and make us human because “we learn, we grow and we are allowed to make mistakes.”
Zayan has grown at CHASS. Once shy and sheltered, she engaged in campus groups and found a vibrant community. She learned, through failure, to manage time and priorities and keeps trying to improve, one of the hardest parts of her college journey.
However, the experience has transformed her. “I love the community here,” Zayan says, embracing the connections that helped her discover her voice.
