While opportunity and connection initially drew Isaac Carreno to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to study political science, he later discovered how profoundly the college had shaped him. He’s especially enjoyed VOLAR, connecting with Raleigh’s Spanish-speaking community and learning through service.

As technology advances, Isaac believes human moments — serving others, sharing experiences and building trust — will ground us. “Being human,” he says, “means being part of a larger community, being able to connect with other people and rely on them and finding your own space and place.” That belief guides his future and highlights the vital importance of human connection.
