Postgraduate Plans: Graduate school for Psychology. Goals include becoming a school psychologist and opening her own school. What has been your favorite course so far and who has influenced you most? I was inspired by Dr. Rupert Nacoste’s Social Psychology course and Dr. John Begeny’s Diversity and Privilege in US Schools course. Melissa Barnes in CSLEPS has been a mentor to me since she accompanied me on my sophomore Alternative Spring Break trip. Jennifer Castillo in the Women’s Center has also helped me grow significantly. She motivated me to turn my interests and passions toward education. What has been your greatest challenge at NC State? Time management! I work three jobs in addition to academics and activities. But I am the type of person who is inspired by being busy; it keeps me going and gives me more energy to put my best effort into everything I do. What do you enjoy most about CHASS? In high school I loved psychology, so I knew this was where I wanted to be. I really appreciate the people I meet here. They are honest, genuine, and encouraging. What advice would you give incoming students? Do not limit yourself. This is the time of life when you can step out of your comfort zone and try things you never expected to like.
