Each season brings internationally recognized thinkers, artists and changemakers to campus for conversations that explore today&#8217;s most important issues through the lens of the humanities and social sciences. In addition to the flagship speaker event, the series features panels, workshops, performances, film screenings and other programs that invite audiences to engage more deeply with each season&#8217;s theme throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who is the 2026 featured speaker?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Academy Award-nominated actor, writer and filmmaker <strong>Jesse Eisenberg<\/strong> will headline the 2026 Human Factor season. His work spans film, theater and literature, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>A Real Pain<\/em>, which he wrote, directed and starred in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Social Network<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Zombieland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<em> Now You See Me<\/em> films<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multiple acclaimed plays and published works<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is this year&#8217;s theme?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Preserving Human Stories<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, artificial intelligence and polarization, how do we preserve the stories that make us human? Throughout the 2026-27 season, The Human Factor will explore how stories are created, shared and remembered \u2014 and why lived experience, empathy and authentic human connection remain essential in an increasingly digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>When is the 2026 featured event?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2026 featured event will take place on Friday, <strong>Sept. 18, 2026<\/strong>, at NC State\u2019s Stewart Theatre in Talley Student Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conversation with Jesse Eisenberg is the centerpiece of a season that continues throughout Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, including panels, workshops, film screenings, service opportunities and other campus events inspired by this year&#8217;s theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What other events are part of the 2026-27 season?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Human Factor extends well beyond the featured speaker event. Throughout the academic year, the series will include film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, service opportunities, course showcases and other campus programs that invite students and community members to explore the season&#8217;s theme from multiple perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who can attend Human Factor events?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Human Factor is open to the NC State community and the public. Some events require registration or tickets, while others are free and open to all. Discounted tickets for NC State faculty, staff and students will be available beginning August 12, when tickets go on sale to the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;d like to improve your chances of securing tickets before the general sale, we encourage you to <a href=\"https:\/\/chass.ncsu.edu\/human-factor\/\">sign up for ticket updates<\/a>. Please note that presale tickets are offered at standard pricing and are not eligible for NC State discounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How is this series funded?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Human Factor is entirely funded through private philanthropy and ticket revenue. The series was launched with the generous support of <a href=\"https:\/\/chass.ncsu.edu\/news\/2026\/05\/28\/nc-state-history-alum-invests-in-human-factor-speaker-series-chass-visibility\/\">history alumnus Charles Gaddy<\/a>, whose leadership gift inspired the initiative, and it continues to be supported by alumni, donors and friends who believe in CHASS&#8217; mission and the importance of human-centered dialogue.
