Usage of the University Logo

The logo should appear in the top left corner on the front of every printed publication created within the university. Whether or not it is flush to the corner or top or not is up to the designer of the piece. Using the CHASS logo or a CHASS departmental or unit logo does not supersede this regulation.

The logo can be used in several different ways. It can be inside the brick - the block of red or black that surrounds the letters - or the letters can be used by themselves. They should appear in the University's red, black, or white reversed out of a colored background or photograph. No other colors can be applied to the brick or the letters.

NC State red is PMS 186. The four color build is:
C:0 M:100 Y:81 K:4

Rules for use of the University logo

  • The logo must appear on the cover of all university publications.
  • The logo should be in the top left corner on the front of every printed publication.
  • The logo is a graphic element, not a type style. Do not attempt to type the logo or use it in a sentence.
  • The NC State wolf and the block S are symbols of school spirit and athletics and should not be used on business letters or publications that relate to academic or research programs.
  • The logo's dimensions must remain consistent. Do not stretch or compress in one direction. You may reduce or enlarge the logo in equal proportions.
